Skin is the biggest organ of our body and this living tissue is connected with all the biological functions of our body. So you won’t be able to have young skin forever in your life; as you age, so shall your skin. But there are many ways you can keep the health of your skin optimal so that it stays firm and supple, which are two things that make skin young.
Young skin also needs regular maintenance; that is because skin cells tend to regenerate more than any other cells in your body. So you need to keep up the external appearance of your youthful skin.
That is why there are certain creams and lotions which should always be there in your home. They include a sunscreen that has SPF factor of 15 or higher, a good loofah or exfoliating scrub and lastly a good moisturizer. Then there are these things to follow:
- Your diet should be rich in fruit, whole grains, lean proteins and vegetables. The things to avoid are sugary products and those high in fat. You have to be healthy inside to have a healthy skin outside. If your diet is too rich in oil, it can lead to over production of oil in your skin which will make it oily and prone to its related problems. One the other hand, sugary products will make your skin prone to dehydration and acne. Two nutrients that are very essential for young skin are Vitamin A and E, so make sure your diet has foods that are rich in these two vitamins. You can also take supplements after consulting with your doctor.
- Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin well hydrated. Your skin is the first place where dehydration strikes, making it dull, dry and limp. To make sure that does not happen to you, stay away from carbonated and sugary drinks, as well as caffeinated drinks.
- Sunscreen is a must no matter how overcast the outside sky is or how dark your skin is. Make sure you choose a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum support and SPF of 15 or more. The higher ones are a must if you stay outside for a long period of time. Fairer skin also needs higher sunscreen protection. If you don’t do this, sunlight will damage your skin and your young skin will look older prematurely.
- Use a good exfoliation scrubber or loofah to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. That will make sure all dead skin cells are removed and your younger skin that is below is revealed.
Applying moisturizer regularly is important. You have many options from the market, like creams that can help with collagen production, to those with Vitamin E or retinoid i.e. Vitamin A derivatives. They will help you to maintain your skin’s health and also reduce those signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles. You will have young skin for a longer period of your life if you use such a moisturizer daily.
