Anti-aging tips do not have to break your bank account.
In fact, you can start reducing wrinkles with just a few lifestyle changes.
Let’s take a look at a few simple routines you can do to look years younger and reduce the wrinkles. Here are some baby steps for staying young.
1. Wear Sunglasses
The delicate area around your eyes need protection 24/7. The sun’s UV rays and even harsh winter winds can damage it rather quickly.
In addition to that, if you’re out on a sunny day squinting due to the sun, you’ll notice crow’s feet start to develop early on.
Too many muscle contractions cause Crow’s feet – in this case, squinting. So keep sunglasses on when going out to protect the skin around your eyes.
2. Drink Alcohol in Moderation
A glass or two of wine does your body good.
However, consuming too much alcohol can cause your skin to age prematurely.
Check out this video of an episode of The Drs. where they discuss the negative effects of alcohol on our skin.
3. Avoid Straws
As your parents may have told you when you were young, making certain faces is not good for you as your face can stick that way.
There is some truth to the story. If you continue to contract your muscles in a particular fashion, your face starts to conform to it.
The lip pursing motion of inhaling draws your mouth in and after a while, encourages wrinkles around your mouth.
4. Shower Smarter
Long, hot steamy showers feel great after a long, busy day.
However, hot water paired with hard water spells out disaster for your skin and hair.
It dries out your skin plus creates a harsh environment. So take shorter, lukewarm showers.
Also, wash your hair less frequently during the week.
Put on your shower cap more to reduce the effects of the steam on your hair.
Save those stressful days for the relaxing, moisturizing bath you can take.
5. Move Those Legs
It’s been thought that crossing your legs could account for developing varicose (spider) veins.
This is not entirely accurate. Genetics plays a large role in developing varicose veins.
Now, a person does increase their chances of developing them if they don’t move around much.
So sitting idle or even standing for long periods of time increases your risk.
The blood is not flowing as much as it should and forces your veins to work harder. Other factors include:
- Hormonal changes
- Sun exposure
6. Keep Your Head Up
Yes, your cell phone could be bad for you in more ways than one.
Staring at the phone all day could be bad for your eyesight.
However, did you also know that consistently looking down stretches your muscles, creating a sagging jaw line?
The technical term is “tech neck”. To help combat this, always hold your phone up at eye level.
7. Don’t Partake in Fad Diets
It happens to the best of us. Fad diets come and go, and it’s hard to keep up with them at times.
However, the years of going back and forth with your weight or losing it too rapidly can wreak havoc on your skin.
It damages the elasticity of your skin, losing your firm, youthful look.
To offset this, lose weight at a slow, steady pace. Stick to your diet and exercise so you don’t gain weight again rapidly.
Do you already practice some of these anti-wrinkle habits or have any tips on staying young? If not, are you going to start any?
