Aging and Saggy Skin
As you age, one day you may wake up and notice more than just wrinkles.
Your skin could become saggy, making a very unnatural, old appearance.
Some believe that saggy skin is hereditary. However, this is not the case.
These two proteins are found in your dermis, the layer of skin directly under the epidermis.
As you age, your collagen production slows down, and your elastin doesn’t work as well (typically like a rubber band, stretching back and forth).
At this point, gravity wins, and your skin no longer bounces back.
Smoking, overexposure to the sun, and rapid weight loss and gain can speed up the process of saggy skin.
However, there are things you can do to prevent or reverse saggy skin naturally.
Tip #1: Replenish Your Antioxidants
Antioxidants are excellent as an anti-aging ingredient. They help fight free radicals and the damage they cause.
Free radicals increase the appearance of aging. Antioxidants can actually increase the effectiveness of skin care products, such as sunscreen.
Combined, antioxidants and other skin care products can combat wrinkles and discoloration in your skin.
A natural way to replenish the antioxidants in your face is to use coconut oil.
Coconut oil can be used daily as a moisturizer. It will surely help reduce the appearance of saggy skin.
Strawberries are another natural food that contains a high amount of antioxidants.
Its alpha hydroxy acid improves your skin’s appearance.
You can apply mashed strawberries directly to your skin or mix it with yogurt.
Yogurt is good for tightening pores and removing dead skin cells. Let this mixture sit for 15 minutes and then wash it off well with warm water.
Tip #2: Increase Your Collagen Production
As mentioned in Understanding Why Collagen is So Important as You Age, collagen is a key component in improving your skins overall well-being.
It strengthens your skin and keeps it elastic.
Although lemons are acidic and can dry out your skin, they have an enormous amount of Vitamin C, which is helpful in increasing your collagen production naturally.
Squeeze the juice out of a lemon and keep it in a jar. This should be good for 3-4 days.
Dip a cotton ball into the juice, and rub it on your face in a circular motion.
Allow it to stay on your face for 10-15 minutes. Afterward, rinse well and apply your favorite moisturizer.
Tip #3: Replace Your Elasticity
The elastic in your skin acts like a rubber band. Your skin stretches and pulls, but your skin falls right back into place. Over time, your skin’s ability to do this wears off, and gravity continues to pull your skin down.
Doing regular facial exercises and putting key ingredients back into your skin can improve the elasticity once again.
You can apply one to your face for 15 minutes a day or safely leave them on as an overnight mask.
It doesn’t take surgeries and injections to have a smooth, beautiful face.
By adding antioxidants, increasing your collagen production, and replacing the elastic properties back into your skin, you can easily reverse saggy skin naturally.
