When you think of having foot odor, you think of either men that have sweaty feet or your gym shoes after a heavy workout.
However, you can get sweaty feet at any time. Of course, you may be more used to it in the winter months as you wear socks and enclosed shoes. Running the heat in your vehicle is one culprit.
However, during the summer it can happen a lot also, even with aired out feet and shoes. It’s hotter during the summer for one.
We all have bacteria that’s on all parts of our skin, however, when we sweat the bacteria soaks up that additional moisture and produces an acid that causes the smell.
Here are five tricks for you to use to combat foot odor naturally.
1. Keep Dry
Of course, the best way to prevent the smell in the first place is to keep your feet as dry as possible. After showering, be sure to get in between each toe. If you dry your hair each morning with a hair dryer, hit in between your toes with it as well!
2. Give Yourself a Pedicure
Allow this to boil for 15 minutes. Add in 1-2 quarts of cold water and then put this in your foot tub to soak for 15-20 minutes at day until the smell is gone.
3. Deodorize Your Toes
Antiperspirant isn’t made just for your underarms! You can get a spray or roll on antiperspirant and put in between each toe.
This keeps you from sweating and is clear so it won’t bulk up when you have your sandals and opened toe shoes on.
4. Get Your Shoes Prepared
When you get home, wipe them out with a dry cloth and keep them out of the closet to keep them aired out.
You can also purchase sneaker balls that you can throw into any shoes to ensure they stay dry if they are going into a dark closet.
Sof Sole Matrix Sneaker Balls come in a pack of six, and you just twist them to activate.
5. Prep Your Shoes for Liquor
If you take a sip of hard liquor at night, put a bit on a towel and wipe down your shoes! Using either vodka or rubbing alcohol is an excellent way to kill bacteria and fungus. It’s an antiseptic and also dries items out quickly.
Now if you find the above tactics are not destroying your foot odor, you may need to see your dermatologist.
