A workout is important, but the thing you do after your workout is equally important.
If you want to achieve the best possible results with your exercise there are a few thinks you should never skip. And what is more important, you should stick to these routines because they will keep your body healthy.
After Workout Routines
Cool down your body
You need slowly to cool down your body.
When you workout you bring up your heart beat to its maximum. And it is not advisable to stop immediately. So what you should is to continue your exercise in slow tempo.
For example, after running you should walk for about five minutes. This moderate exercise will cool down your body and slowly return your heartbeat to its normal.
Stretch your body
After exercise, your muscles contract. So you need to stretch them before your muscles cool down, and that is within 30 minutes after workout.
Stretching your body will help your muscles to rebuild and will prevent them from further injury. This will also relax your muscles and improve circulation.
When you stretch, do not push your body too hard, you do not need to feel the pain (that can also lead to injury), find an appropriate stretching point!
While workout, you sweat and, therefore, you lose a lot of fluids.
And you know that our body is made almost all of water and a slight dehydration can have serious consequences.
So keeping yourself hydrated is a must. Water is the best solution. But if you intensively workout more than one hour, then you can go for some energy drink and the best ones are the home made ones.
It is recommended to drink around three glasses of water after exercising in the next two hours. After that period, go back to your regular routines.
But, you can quickly check if your body is hydrated enough in the toilet. If your urine is light colored and there is a large amount of it, then you are doing great. If it is the opposite, then you need more water!
Eat to refuel your body
‘Hmmm… Eating after a workout? But I’ve worked so hard to burn all those calories…’
Yes, yes and yes!
It’s the best to eat within 90 minutes after you exercised, but sooner the better and try to eat within 30 minutes after workout. And all the calories you’ve lost, they still count.
But it is important to keep your body healthy and refill it with energy.
Your ‘after workout’ snack should be healthy and it is preferred to contain around 150 calories. What your body needs after a hard workout are healthy carbs to provide you some energy and some protein to build up your muscles.
