Washing your hair is a routine that some of you even repeat daily.
But, do you wash it daily or less, this is a routine for everyone and there can’t be a wrong way to do it, right?
And that is where you are mistaking!
Experts say that are several things we do wrong every time we do our hair and those mistakes are damaging your hair!
Mistakes You Are Making When Washing Your Hair:
1. You don’t brush your hair before washing
I’m sure you know that you must brush your hair after you wash it, but what about before?
Brushing your hair before washing will prevent your hair from becoming a tangled mess. Also, it will break up any residual product.
2. You are washing your hair too often
Don’t wash your hair when you don’t need to. The rule here is very simple when you feel your hair is dirty then wash it.
If your hair gets oily on a daily basis, it’s ok to wash it daily. But if you feel that you can go several days without washing, then do so.
In conclusion, your body knows the best you just need to learn to listen to it.
3. Shampooing only once
One wash often isn’t enough to break down all the residue and product build-up, especially if you haven’t washed your hair for a few days.
So, if you can’t make enough foam during the first wash, that is a clear sign that you need to repeat the process once more.
4. Scrubbing too much
While you are shampooing your hair, you don’t need to rub your scalp like a maniac.
You need to do the opposite completely – give your head a gentle massage.
Start at the hairline by working it in with your fingertips, in circular motions, and then slowly move down to the nape of your neck. Massaging not helps create a thicker lather and makes for a more efficient clean, it also stimulates the scalp, making for healthy hair growth in the long run.
5. Skipping or using too much conditioner
Some people skip conditioner because it ruins their natural hair volume. But, conditioner is a must if you want healthy and damage free hair.
When applying the conditioner, start from the end since that’s where hair is most prone to breakage, and then spreading it up the hair to the mid-shaft.
Also, remember that using too much conditioner will not make your hair healthier and it will have the opposite effect. Your hair will stay greasy even after washing.
