Laser Therapy to Reduce Redness Around Nose

redness around noseEvery year hundreds of thousands of laser skin treatments are performed in the United States.  And each year it is becoming more and more popular.

There are a variety of irregularities in the skin that can be fixed or improved through the use of laser therapy.  These include problems such as skin color or skin texture, and even damage due to too much exposure to the sun and other signs of aging.  And as the title suggests, these procedures also help to reduce redness around nose as well as other aging signs like wrinkles and folds in the skin.  Laser therapy has become popular because it’s effective and it’s a non-surgical procedure with a lot less risk that other surgical procedures and invasive techniques.

There are a variety of laser therapy procedures that can help many different types of skin problems, including conditions like redness around nose, but these treatments will give you the best results if you first visit your dermatologist.  They will be able to tell you why you have this redness in the first place, which is important.

A few of the causes for the redness include the following:  broken capillaries, damage from the sun, scarring from acne as well as acne itself, too much alcohol or cigarette consumption, and even eczema.  And still there are others in which this redness if very temporary, so for these people it is not advisable to undergo any type of laser treatment.  And on the other side of the coin, if you have a very serious problem then you might need a treatment that requires a lot more medical attention instead of a cosmetic procedure like laser therapy.  So as already stated, please do see a dermatologist first to take at look at the issue and be able to give you some recommendations.  Maybe there is another sun damaged skin treatment you should try first, and you will only know by talking to your doctor.

If laser therapy is something that you want to try, there are two main types of laser therapy:  non-ablative and as well ablative.  These are the broad categories, and within each of these categories there are a number of different types of laser therapies for different problems.

Ablative laser treatments work by taking the surface of your skin tissue away by burning it, which brings out the “younger” layer below it.  Because they take off the upper-most layer of the skin, they are known as more aggressive versions but the results can be quite dramatic.  But because of the nature of this treatment, the recovery time is longer than others.

Non-ablative treatments don’t do this, and instead the laser gets into your skin and targets the cells inside that are abnormal.  This process doesn’t burn the tissues of the skin like ablative does.  You will however need two or more sessions to get the desired results.

Pulsed Dye Laser therapy is one of the best choices you can make for redness around nose problems that is caused by rosacea as well as spider veins and something called port wine stains.  Then there is something called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which is a very gentle type of laser treatment.

Use before & after treatments!

So now that you have a little background info on laser treatments, you can start to think about which process you want to go with to remove redness around nose.  There is definitely one factor that you should keep in mind, and that is that the more “harsh” the laser treatment procedure is, the quicker the results will be…but the recovery time will be longer.  So it’s a trade-off.  If you don’t mind the longer recovery time, you can go with a more aggressive approach.  If you want to the procedure to mix in better with your day-to-day activities, then you should consider something more gentle that will take more sessions.

In addition, think about what you ultimate goal is and what your expectations are.  Make sure the procedure you choose is in-line with those expectations.  Your current skin conditions as well as your desired results will affect the procedure you choose.

When you decide on a treatment, it’s not a matter of just showing up for your appointment and starting.  There are a few things you need to do beforehand.  You will likely be asked to use a strong

screen everyday and keep out of the sun as much as you can for about two months before you begin the session(s).

Another thing you will have to discuss with your doctor before the treatment is what other products you are using on the area or if you are doing any other treatments as well.  You will likely have to stop all of that or change something before you start the laser therapy.

Once you go through with the proper laser treatment you should see the redness around nose dissipate while new and healthier skin replaces the damaged parts.  You skin should also start to look smoother and younger when this discoloration is gone as well!  And when this happens, you should start to feel less embarrassed by the redness and will feel an increase in your self-esteem.

Always remember though that after procedures like this your skin will be extra-sensitive towards the ultraviolet light from the sun as well as other damaging free radicals.  Make you sure you protect yourself properly by including vitamin C in your diet as well as topically, and use plenty of strong sunscreen.
